I have spent my entire life struggling to make friends and form relationships. I am well into middle age, my life has been marred with loneliness and I’ve never had a close friend. I meet lots of people, I participate in conversations, but I never seem to get past the acquaintance stage.I’ve been searching for so long now to find out what I’m doing wrong. Finally I found this book and it just completely opened my eyes.2 days after I started to read this I practiced a couple of the techniques on my colleagues and got exactly the response the book said I would.This book is great because it covers so many different aspects of the psychology behind connection. This book is written in very clear, easy to understand language. Each concept is explained clearly, an example is provided and there is also a summarized explanation of the scientific study on the concept.At the end of each chapter the concepts within that chapter are summarized so that you can see how they inter-connect with each other.The book isn’t long but it doesn’t need to be. It is very well thought out, concise and gives plenty of useful food for thought. It’s the type of book I need to read more than once and actually take notes because there’s so much to take in.I highly recommend this for anyone who can’t figure out why they struggle to connect.The only criticism I would give this book is the chapter at the end that summarises all the summaries. It’s pointless and I didn’t bother reading past the first couple.
